見た目はロック、味わいはストレート。
「Eternal Rock」は、ロックグラスの中に浮かぶ丸氷の情景を、ガラスそのものによって表現したウイスキーグラスです。
ウイスキーをロックで愉しむときの、重厚なグラスと大きな氷。その佇まいには独特の豊かさがある一方、氷が溶けるにつれて、香りや味わいは少しずつ変化していきます。
そこで、グラスの中央に氷を思わせるガラスの球体を設けることで、ロックグラスの視覚的な魅力を残しながら、ウイスキーをストレートのまま愉しめるかたちを考えました。
少量のウイスキーを注いでも、球体によって液面が持ち上がり、グラスの中を豊かに満たしているように見えることも特徴です。量ではなく、佇まいや時間そのものを味わうためのグラスを目指しました。
本作品は「富山デザインコンペティション2025」に入賞。この提案を起点に、富山のものづくりに携わる人々との協働による、さらなるブラッシュアップへと発展していきます。
Eternal Rock
Looks like a whisky on the rocks. Tastes like it straight.
“Eternal Rock” is a whisky glass that recreates the visual presence of a large sphere of ice through the glass itself.
Whisky served on the rocks has a distinctive sense of richness—the weight of the glass, the presence of the ice, and the way the drink fills the vessel. At the same time, as the ice melts, the aroma and flavor of the whisky gradually change.
Eternal Rock places a glass sphere at the center of the vessel, evoking the appearance of a large piece of ice while allowing the whisky to be enjoyed straight, without dilution.
The sphere also raises the liquid level, giving even a small pour a generous visual presence. Rather than emphasizing quantity, the design focuses on the experience of savoring the whisky, its appearance, and the time spent with it.
The project was selected as an award-winning work in the TOYAMA DESIGN COMPETITION 2025. This original proposal later became the starting point for further development through collaboration with makers in Toyama.
